Descripción larga
Presiding over the Plaza Vieja (Old Town Square) we find this building built on the remains of the 16th century palace owned by Mosén Pierres de Peralta, which has undergone several later reforms. It is remarkable for its main entrance and the noble hall, nowadays dedicated to the Plenary Hall. This space has a neo-Renaissance decoration made in the early twentieth century.

On the façade facing Rúa Street there is an interesting coat of arms of the city of Tudela dated 1582 made in stone.

The Town Hall, the administrative center of the city, is located in the Plaza Vieja (Old Town Square) next to the Cathedral. Since 1490, it has stood in a 15th century building that was erected on the ruins of the "Casas del Almudí" (Houses of Almundi) owned by Mosén Pierres de Peralta and bought from Juan de Berrozpe in the same year.

In this building and in its privileged location, in the center of the Historical Center, events of great importance for the political, social, economic and cultural life of our city have been taken place over the years.

The successive renovations, reconstructions and adaptations carried out from its origin until the end of the 20th century, present it to us in its present form after the last work, completed in 1994.

On the outside, the façade of the noble floor stands out, where large hollows open up. From its balconies, there have been witnessed the swearing in of the Fueros (charters which established rights and obligations) by different kings, festivities and traditional ceremonies such as the Descent of the Angel, the Volatín, that represents the death of Judas, or bullfights. It has administered justice, held Navarrese Courts, auctions and has also been the place to receive representative personalities of the history of Spain. On the façade facing Rúa Street there is an interesting coat of arms of the city of Tudela dated 1582 and made in stone.

As a curiosity, in the 17th century a belfry was built on the roof of the building, which was used to house a clock and Mary’s bell, necessary for the curfew, to sound the alarm and as a warning for political events in the city.

From the structure of the original building, the main façade with the hallway and the Plenary Hall, as well as the unique cellar used from 1562 to 1841 as a public jail, have been preserved.

The Plenary Hall, formerly called the Chamber of the Secret, is the main and most representative piece of the current building and not only for its function. Richly decorated in 1919 in neo-Renaissance style, its cornices, pillars, moldings and arches, frame the openings of doors and windows and enable the openings for the location of magnificent canvases that illustrate the history of our City. In addition, and as it happens in the rest of the building, the shield of the city of Tudela and Navarre appears as decorative motif (in plasterworks, lamps, ...).

On the main floor, next to the Plenary Hall, there are the Mayor's Office, the General Secretary's Office and the Meeting Room (Consistory). At the same time, it is also used for the exhibition of paintings, mostly from painters from Tudela.

The rest of the building is used for the general offices of the municipal administration.
